G is for Giraffe
Rivers has his very own Zoo membership. So nearly every week, mom and Rivs take a trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There he watches otters flip, monkeys swing, mountain lions yawn, porcupine stink, grizzly bears swim and much much more.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Rivers got to bring dad with us to the zoo. This was a very special occasion, so we even bought some romaine lettuce to feed the giraffes.
Over the past 9 months (how long we've had our membership), I've done a lot of observing of children, teenagers and adults, when they feed the giraffes. Most scream or "eeww" trying to avoid contact with the long, black slimy tongue reaching out to grab the food. But Rivers, no way. The kid has absolutely no fear, and finds the tongue fascinating rather than disgusting. (sorry for all the upcoming pictures. . . sometimes multiple pictures reminds me of a movie clip, seeing them all together shows the experience all the better, and I think this sequence is all pretty funny. So my friends, enjoy. :)
T is for Tongue:
Everyone was laughing and taking pictures of little Rivs feed the giraffes. He thought it was all pretty hilarious himself. So here he is soaking up all the attention. What a ham. :)
More. . . up close and personal.
hand all the way in the giraffes mouth. . . thank goodness they're so nice!
Reaching out to grab his tongue! Poor giraffe, he wasn't expecting that one!
Thanks dad for one fun day at the zoo!
