Happy Cake!
"Happy Cake Grandma Elba!" These are the words frequently repeated by our little man weeks after we returned home from my parent's house. Grandma Melba's birthday made an impression on little Rivs. And that cake must have tasted like nothing else!
The first day of the big reunion, we celebrated Grandma Melba's 97th birthday! Yep, that's right. Grandma has hit the big 9-7 and is still going strong. She is as sharp as can be, and last Sunday, she told me she had just finished a 1 hour walk. She's doing awesome.
One of my favorite things is seeing our kids love Grandma and see the magic in Grandma as much as we do. Grandma just has a way with children. She knows just what to do to make them laugh and smile, and the kids love every second of her.
For Grandma's birthday my mom threw a big Luau. Rivers loved wearing a lei around his neck and practicing the hula dance with Emi. :)

Hats! The boys found a bunch of silly hats in my mom's toy closet. And you would never guess how much fun a hat could be for a bunch of kids. But everyone was running around the house putting the hats on and off, playing peek-a-boo, and acting super silly.
Happy Birthday Grandma Melba! We love you!
