Before leaving to the doctor that Tuesday morning, Ben gave me a blessing. (It was more like a "Father's Blessing" because everyone was out of town and he was unable to get ahold of anyone to join him - later before my surgery Ryan Lindgrin assisted in administering a blessing for me). So, it was just the three of us, Rivers, Dad, and Mom. I sat down on our dining room chair, and as Ben laid his hands upon my head Rivers, stopped what he was playing with, climbed up onto our table, and folded his little arms. He sat there quietly throughout the entire prayer. When it was done, Rivs said loudly (and proudly) "Amen." (which sounds more like "BB"). It was so special to see my little boy so involved. The spirit was so strong in the room.
Ever since that day, Rivs loves to pray. He always reminds us it is time to pray. Even when we're just getting a snack, he folds his arms and begins jabbering a little prayer. One evening we were having a slice of left over pizza. He reminded me that we must pray. So we said a little prayer. Then Ben came in to have the last slice of pizza, he sat down to eat, and Rivers sat down his food, folded his arms, and silently reminded Ben that he needed to say a prayer.
