Happy! Father's Day!

Rivers was a hoot on father's day. He thoroughly enjoyed Sacrament Meeting. After the primary completed their Father's Day song, Rivers started clapping and yelling "yeah!" 

Then while the speaker was giving his talk Rivers kept yelling out words the speaker was saying. He would loudly repeat "Jesus!" or "good!" with a big smile on his face.  Then the speaker cracked a joke about his wife and the whole audience started laughing. Rivers laughed his most exaggerated laugh. And then started clapping once again, and yelling "yeah!" We've never been to a (excuse my lack of a better term) but an "African American" type church (you all know what I'm saying). But Rivers completely belongs there. He's ready to stand up in his seat and yell "Hallelujah!" And if he had the opportunity I know he would be right up on the stage dancing for the whole world to see! 

In Nursery, Rivers learned the song "I'm so glad when daddy comes home." So that afternoon when we arrived home from our Rocking Church session. Rivers started jumping around, singing the tune (kind of) to the song. And then he started to pat Ben on his cheeks and then he yelled "kiss." And gave Ben, what. . . .  "a great big kiss!" It was so so so cute! (as an epilogue to this story, a few days later, when Rivers saw Ben drive into the driveway he yelled "yeah! Daddy!" And when Ben walked into the house, Rivs started dancing around singing and crawled up onto Ben's knee, gave him a huge hug and a great big kiss. . . I think Ben's heart completely melted right then and there.) 

After lots of singing and dancing, Rivers decided it was time to strip down. And whenever Rivs strips down it's time for some running. That kid ran from one end of the house to the other, laughing all the way. He and Ben played steamroll and peek-a-boo and tickle tag. Those two boys were having the time of their life! 

Then we spent the afternoon eating carrot cake cupcakes, napping in the shade, and playing in Rivers miniature wadding pool. Then Rivs got to call his Grandpa's and wish them a very happy father's day. His favorite is always calling Grandpa Bob because Grandpa Bob uses Skype, and what is more fun then showing off for Grandma and Grandpa in front of a computer screen? Rivers "danced" to Itsy Bitsy Spider for them, performed his 360 degree somersault and practiced headstands. And then of course Rivers loved pretending Grandpa was going to "get him" through the computer screen. But his most favorite thing of all? Tickling Grandma and Grandpa. He would wiggle his fingers through the screen and say "ticky, ticky, ticky" and they would burst out laughing. Rivers thought that was hilarious!  Rivers has some fantastic Grandpas! 

It was very very happy father's day! Besides of course, the sad realization that Ben's candy was not all for Rivers. (but that would make anyone cry :)
